LAMINATE FLOORS
___________________________________
Laminate flooring is
sold as square tiles or as thin 8-inch planks in 3/8 inch or even 1/2 inch thicknesses.
The planks can be displayed as one, two, or three strips in each panel. Laminate flooring or the bamboo
flooring is also known with another name that is known as parquetry.
Laminate floors are also just as they sound. Thin
strips of wood are laminated to particle board backings in order to create a hardwood floors look without the
harder installation and higher costs.
Laminate tile flooring typically comes
packaged with 15 to 36 tiles. Measurement may come as 7 or 8 wide, and 4 long. Laminate flooring is available in
panels or individual pieces depending on manufacturers. Laminate floors come with cores ranging from 6mm up to
12mm. A thicker core is more stable, less vulnerable to buckling and will sound more like real hardwood when
walked on.
Wood laminate
is another option worth considering because of its non-institutional look, but as with carpet, maintenance
challenges must be addressed before this choice is made. For public areas where sound control and low emissions of
cleaning fluids are important considerations and carpet or wood are not chosen, rubber flooring is a better
alternative than vinyl. Wood flooring is our life. Wood floors act much the same way.
Wood laminate is another option worth
considering because of its non-institutional look, but as with carpet, maintenance challenges must be addressed
before this choice is made. Laminate flooring is a material that is made to
resemble wood flooring. This type of flooring has many advantages that other woods simply cannot provide you
with.
